Buka Puasa with guests from Rumah Tunas Harapan

For the 2nd time running, we had the privilege of hosting the buka puasa feast with orphans from the Rumah Tunas Harapan at Muzium Kesenian Islam near Masjid Negara.

It was a fun-filled night as we celebrated with 50 special guest, and was served with an Arabian/middle-eastern style buffet. Everyone mingled around, and shared their experiences with one another. Everyone had fun, and the chocolate cup cakes we brought on was a huge hit with the children.

The evening ended at around 11pm with the Directors dispensing duit raya and small hampers for the children to take home.

It was a fun night, and we hope to be able to do it again next year.

RAC Launches Multi-lingual Website

Last week we successfully deployed a multi-lingual website for our client, Railway Asset Corporation. The original website was developed on our in-house website framework, but we decided it was not robust enough to effectively handle multiple languages. After extensive research, we set our hearts on the popular open-source website content development framework, Drupal.

Thus we started from scratch, and managed to complete the project in about 2 weeks. The design was maintained, but we implemented the following for the new website:

web-standard based design
version control for easier content management
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
performance enhancers via Drupal's caching engine

Now visitors to the new RAC website can view choose between the two languages from the front page, and switch between them easily on the pages themselves. Visitors benefit from improved user experience, and can get to their desired content fast.

Firefly Goes Green

In celebration of the World Environment Day on 6 Jun 2008, Firefly contacted us about their "Support Green Initiative". To accentuate this initiative, we created a page called Support Green, detailing Firefly's efforts in reducing its carbon footprint throughout its entire operation, as well as the advantages brought by its upcoming ATR-72 aircrafts.

We also created a web application that calculates the carbon consumption for passengers on all its routes, and enables them to make payments to offset that consumption. Dubbed the "Carbon Calculator", we used AJAX to make the calculations, interface with a database back-end for transaction data storage and connecting it to a payment gateway for secured processing.

To top it off, we transformed the entire website from vibrant orange theme to a greener shade, along with the tagline "Orange is the new Green".

Firefly V2 Launched

We have successfully launched the revamped website for our client Firefly. We made a few improvements over the initial design to take the website to the next level.

What’s new:

Cleaner design with white and orange as the primary colours.
Clutter-free design with focus on promotions, booking and important content.
Focus on the time-definite promotions with visually attractive design and prominent placement for maximum attention and exposure.
Give more prominence to the online booking form to boost conversion.
Optimised the loading time with minimal visuals and more usage of text-based elements.
Implemented standards-based markup to further trip down the loading time and aid SEO.
