Lembaga Jurukur Tanah

Geomatic & Land Surveying Discovery Centre (GLSDC) — Web Platform & QR Audio Guide Mobile App

01 // The Challenge

Extending GLSDC’s reach through a digital gallery and interactive mobile experience

The Geomatic and Land Surveying Discovery Centre (GLSDC) under Lembaga Jurukur Tanah serves as Malaysia's dedicated showcase for geomatic science and land surveying — a field that underpins the country's land administration, mapping, and infrastructure planning. As a gallery and education centre, its content has significant value not only for professional visitors — surveyors, engineers, and government officers — but for students and the general public with an interest in how Malaysia's land is measured, mapped, and managed.

The challenge the Land Surveyor Board faced was one of reach and depth. Physically, the gallery could only serve visitors who could attend in person. The richness of the exhibits was not accessible to those outside the gallery, and there was no digital extension of the experience. Inside the gallery itself, visitors had no interactive layer to deepen their engagement with exhibits beyond what they could read from physical panels.

The Board needed two things: a web platform that could make the gallery's content accessible beyond its physical walls, and a mobile application that transformed the in-gallery experience from a passive visit into an active, guided exploration — using the technology visitors already carry with them.

02 // The Solution

Digital gallery and QR-enabled audio guide transforming GLSDC into an interactive learning experience

Primus Core designed and built the GLSDC platform as a two-layer digital experience — a web portal for external discovery and a mobile application for in-gallery engagement, both managed through a unified content management system.

The web portal was built as the gallery's digital front door — presenting the centre's exhibits, the history and science of geomatic surveying, and visitor information in a structured, accessible format. The content architecture was designed to serve multiple audiences: professionals seeking technical depth, students looking for educational context, and general visitors exploring the subject for the first time.

The mobile application was the more technically distinctive element. Primus Core built a QR-activated audio guide system that allowed visitors to scan a QR code at each exhibit station and receive an audio narration directly on their device — transforming the gallery walk into a guided, narrated experience without requiring specialist hardware or headset equipment. The audio content was produced and integrated into the platform, with the content management system allowing the Land Surveyor Board to update and add narrations as the gallery evolves.
